Audit-Ready by Default: The Business Audit Trail and E-Signatures

Ask anyone who has been through an ISO or GMP audit what the painful part is, and it's rarely the science. It's proving the science — showing who did what, who approved it, and when, across records that were never designed to answer that question. The Audit Trail module in ChemPlus Business is built so that proof is always already there.
What gets recorded
The Audit Trail captures the events that auditors actually ask about:
- Changes — when a record is created or edited, and what changed.
- Approvals — who signed off on a result, method, or report.
- E-signatures — a durable signature attached to the specific record and moment it applied to.
Because this happens automatically as people work, there's no separate "log the change" step to forget. The record of what happened is a byproduct of doing the work, not extra work.
Why e-signatures beat a signed printout
A signature on a paper printout proves that someone signed a piece of paper. It doesn't prove which version of the data they were looking at, or that the data hasn't changed since. An e-signature bound to the record ties the approval to a specific state of that record — so "approved" means approved this, as it was, at this time.
From audit panic to audit lookup
The practical difference shows up on audit day. Instead of assembling a timeline from emails, spreadsheet version history, and someone's memory, you open the record and its history is right there: created, edited, reviewed, approved, signed — in order, with names and timestamps. The Business dashboard even surfaces an audit-readiness score so you know where you stand before anyone knocks on the door.
Audit Trail is one of the modules included in ChemPlus Business. Paired with Sample Tracking and CoA Reports, it means the full story of a result — from sample intake to signed certificate — lives in one connected place.
